Journalists and support staff at newspapers used to believe that rich people could perform a magic trick with their fortunes and save newspapers from their moribund situation.
But no! Jeff Bezos and others have bought many media outlets, but the failure of their former owners has not gone away. Newspapers worldwide continue to post multi-million-dollar annual losses, $100 million last year in the case of the Washington Post.
In 2024, there will be a new transformation as several media outlets, including The New York Times, build teams of engineers to integrate Artificial Intelligence into their operations.
