DONALD TRUMP AND THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD…   By Bernard Bujold -   President Donald J. Trump is dominating the debate in the Davos Forum, and his speech has a major theme: the United States has always been there in the past and has been paying for the world. It was the old world; now it is a different one, where every country should take care of itself and be economically solid. In a way, the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney's speech was an introduction to Trump one, and both are saying the same thing: that we are in a new world and we should forget about the old world, which does not, and will not, exist anymore. PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP - 1 YEAR-  Today, January 20, 2026, is the first anniversary of Donald Trump’s second inauguration. His second term officially began a year ago today, on January 20, 2025, when he was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. Various news outlets and political organizations are marking today with reflections on the first year of his second administration, including his executive orders on federal employment, trade tariffs, and immigration. L'HIVER DE 2026 - Par Bernard Bujold -  Le mois de janvier est bien entamé et, en ce 20 janvier, nous sommes passés au travers du premier mois de l'hiver 2026 et, jusqu’à présent, la température a été de saison.  Personnellement, je ne suis pas un fan des sports d’hiver et le gymnase est un peu mon refuge. THE PASSION FOR READING IN 2026-   By Bernard Bujold -   I love it when I discover an exceptional author. In my life, I enjoyed many exceptional authors like Tom Wolfe, Dan Brown, Kathy Reichs, and others like them. Now, I discovered another one with the same level of talent: Belle Burden. I discovered her by reading the review of her book (memoirs), "Strangers," in The New York Times.   The book caught my attention because it is a story about divorce, and I am a divorced person myself. But the book is also a book about life, friendship, and how to overcome life in uncharted waters, and how to survive the pain and the emptiness after divorce or the death of a close friend. It also shows how we often do not really know the real personality of our neighbour or spouse. UN NOUVEAU MAGASIN APPLE À MONTRÉAL-  Par Bernard Bujold - J’adore visiter les magasins Apple et je suis un fan de leurs produits. J’ai donc assisté à l’ouverture du nouveau magasin sur la rue Sainte-Catherine à Montréal, voisin de mon autre magasin favori, Holt Renfrew Ogilvy.  Malheureusement, je suis déçu…  J’adorais l’ancien magasin avec son légendaire escalier en verre (concept d’escalier que l’on dit avoir été dessiné par Steve Jobs lui-même). Le nouveau magasin est une copie des surfaces de centre d’achat comme à Dix30, Laval, ou Pointe-Claire. La lumière du nouveau magasin de la rue Sainte-Catherine est magnifique, mais j’aimais mieux le concept sur deux étages avec l’escalier de l’ancien.  Heureusement, ma déception n’est pas si grave car je commande mes produits en ligne… https://www.apple.com/ca/fr/retail/saintecatherine/

Selon la science des sondages, tout indique que Paul St-Pierre Plamondon et son Parti québécois devraient remporter les prochaines élections du 5 octobre 2026, mais tout autre résultat est également possible… Si Pablo Rodriguez n’avait pas été la victime d’un violent putsch amorcé en novembre 2025, avec sa notoriété et surtout l’appui d’Ottawa, il aurait pu devancer le PQ. Il faudra voir l'élan que prendra le nouveau chef libéral. Il y a bien sûr Éric Duhaime, mais malgré sa popularité, il semble avoir le même handicap que Maxime Bernier et son impossibilité à concentrer les votes par circonscription et à faire élire des députés. Québec solidaire est un parti qui n'est pas une option dans la course au pouvoir. LA CHANCE EN 2026-  Par Bernard Bujold - On peut comparer la vie à une loterie (ou à des machines à sous au casino). Certains des joueurs sont chanceux et d’autres moins. Que nous réserve la nouvelle année 2026? Ce ne sont que quelques privilégiés qui gagneront le gros lot ou quelques malchanceux qui perdront tout de leur mise....  Dans le réel en 2026, certains connaîtront de grands succès et de grandes joies de vie tandis que d’autres connaitront des malheurs soit professionnels, personnels ou physique avec la maladie. On ne peut pas contrôler le destin et il vaut mieux accepter nos succès sans se poser de questions et essayer de surpasser nos malheurs de vie au mieux de nos capacités.  Et au final, comme me disait un ami, il existe une troisième catégorie de joueurs au casino de la vie. For Christmas and New Year’s 2026, my two children—my son and my daughter—gave me a classic work of science fiction: Snow Crash.  The novel was published in 1992, at the very dawn of the internet, but even today in 2026, it is still considered the "bible" of the digital age.
