THE GOOD OLD DAYS...  By Bernard Bujold- Over the years, I have had the pleasure of rubbing shoulders with great leaders, from René Lévesque to Brian Mulroney in politics, and Pierre Péladeau (Sr.) in business. But my greatest joy has been observing and experiencing the Donald Trump era. Living in an era with leaders we admire is a great privilege and brings us joy as individuals, even as observers. One year ago today, on this Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Donald Trump was elected president of the United States for a second term. For me, it is the man Trump who appeals to me, with his combative, daring style and his unique, confident demeanor. Above all, he never gives up in the face of even the most difficult obstacles. Donald Trump's existence is one of my little joys in life!  Note: It is said that the election of a far-right mayor in New York could serve as a political cudgel for Donald and help him in his fight against the Democrats. NOUVELLE ÉPOQUE POUR MONTRÉAL…- Par Bernard Bujold -  La ville de Montréal a une nouvelle mairesse, Soroya Martinez Ferrada, qui a été élue avec 43,2 % des votes. Le taux de participation pour Montréal est de 35,92 % comparé à 38,3 % pour l’élection de 2021. Si Valérie Plante avait gagné ses deux mandats à cause de son sourire comparé à la colère continuelle de Denis Coderre, Soraya a gagné à cause de deux thèmes: « Écouter » et « Agir ». Il faudra voir la suite, mais on sait déjà que Ferrada est d’idéologie de droite contrairement à Valérie Plante qui était de gauche. JOUR DE VOTE…  Par Bernard Bujold-  C’est le jour du vote municipal partout au Québec aujourd’hui, dimanche 2 novembre 2025. Plusieurs dirigeants seront élus sans opposition à cause du manque de candidats… Pour Montréal, ce fut une campagne sans éclat, comparée aux années précédentes. Tous les sondages prévoient une victoire à la mairie de Soraya Martínez Ferrada. La question à surveiller sera le taux de participation des électeurs. Alors qu’en 2021, le taux avait été de 38,3 %, certains observateurs croient qu’en 2025 le taux sera en dessous de 30%…  À suivre!  www.lestudio1.com

LA DOULEUR DE LA DÉFAITE -  Par Bernard Bujold -  La pire douleur qui soit est la défaite. À l’opposé, l’euphorie de la victoire est le plus grand plaisir qui soit. La seule solution: oublier la défaite et passer à une autre passion! DOUG FORD'S STRATEGY...  By Bernard Bujold-  In politics, everything is strategic, and the objective is to take the chair of power. For observers of political strategy, it's obvious that Doug Ford is aiming for the position of Prime Minister of Canada. He's positioning himself against current Prime Minister Mark Carney, and he knows that Pierre Poilièvre will be easy to topple at the Conservative Party convention in Calgary, Alberta, January 29-31, 2026. Doug Ford is known as the bull. He's aggressive, strategic, and doesn't hesitate to be sneaky with his opponents. He proved this against Carolyne Mulroney when he appeared out of nowhere to seize the leadership of the Ontario Conservative Party in 2018. He played the outsider card, cleaning up the party and standing up for taxpayers. MONTRÉAL ET SON AVENIR -  Par Bernard Bujold -  C’est ce dimanche 2 novembre 2025 qu’ont lieu des élections municipales dans 1100 municipalités au Québec. Quelque 8 000 postes d’élu(e)s municipaux seront à combler, mais plusieurs seront élus sans aucune opposition par manque d'opposants…  En ce qui concerne Montréal, personnellement, je n’ai jamais été un fan de la mairesse sortante Valérie Plante. Selon moi, elle avait été élue en 2017 à cause de son sourire, et non de ses idées politiques, alors que le maire sortant Denis Coderre avait toujours une allure choquée et ne souriait jamais.  On peut dire qu’une vraie campagne électorale fut celle de 2013 entre Mélanie Joly et Denis Coderre. Les deux candidats avaient des programmes et des débats sérieux. En 2025, la campagne montréalaise n’aura rien eu de captivant et aucun des candidats à la mairie n’aura été remarquable…  Il faudra voir le résultat, mais selon certains observateurs, le taux de participation de...

THE BEAUTY OF CLOTHING...  By Bernard Bujold-  I took advantage of the weekend to visit a friend from another life, who now works for the TOM FORD clothing company. Knowing my passion for beautiful clothes from the days when we frequented the same circles, she recently invited me to try on the new suits for the 2025 season at the Holt Renfrew Ogilvy store on Ste-Catherine Street. I thought, why not...  The TOM FORD suit fits me well, but when my friend told me the price, I was shocked. $8,500 before tax...  I told her I would think about it! My friend and I then discussed our heyday, and she told me not to worry about the coat. She understands that when you're retired, you don't really need a luxury suit, unless you're invited by a friend like Donald...  If I had the spirit of my 30s, it would be a dream, and I would have already offered my services as an advisor. But an old man is more realistic, even though dreams can often come true at any age...  H...

MES PASSIONS DE VIE… ​ Par Bernard Bujold -  J’ai quatre passions dans la vie: la politique, la photographie, la technologie (intelligence artificielle) et le gymnase. Il fut une époque, plus jeune, où j’avais une cinquième passion, celle de l’amour romantique… J’ai cependant compris, en vieillissant, que le romantisme est comme de l’eau, il est insaisissable… Il faut l’apprécier, mais ne jamais croire qu’on peut le posséder.  Ceci étant dit, j’ai récemment rencontré dans un café une jeune fille d’une grande beauté. Et je m'y connais en beauté féminine…  Ce sont dans des moments comme ceux-là où j'aimerais être plus jeune et croire encore au romantisme… Bon week-end d’automne.
